I’ve been a mom for twelve years now.

As impossible as that seems to me, it’s true nonetheless.

On top of my twelve years of motherhood, I was a teacher for three years prior to that.

And of course those years were preceded by four years of studying to be a teacher.

All that to say, I’ve had quite a bit of experience with kids. And to be honest, sometimes I can kinda, sorta think I’m a pro at this parenting thing.

It’s not that I’m unwilling to learn from other moms. I’m not that arrogant.

It’s more that I tend to assume that I know the hearts of my kids.

Instead of giving the benefit of the doubt, I presume that I already know what’s really in their hearts.

Today’s featured post, written by Jen at Being Confident of This, has challenged me to reconsider some of the common behaviors I’m all-too-quick to characterize as misbehaviors.

Because sometimes, there’s more than meets the eye.

For an added blessing, follow Jen on Facebook and Pinterest.

Jen, thank you for sharing your wisdom with us, and for encouraging us to look beyond the surface of what we perceive to be negative behaviors in our kids. You have shared in a way that’s refreshing and relatable, and your ministry is a blessing! Feel free to grab this “I’ve Been Featured” button for your blog as our way of saying, “Thank you.”
