“Open your Bibles, please, to the book of Leviticus.”

I wonder if our pastors can see our eyes glaze over the moment “Leviticus” is uttered from the pulpit.

(Or perhaps, graciously, they only glaze over from the inside.)

I think all Christians will agree that some parts of the Bible are more easily digested than others. That’s certainly been my experience.

But the more I choose to keep on delving, keep on searching, keep on pondering Leviticus and Habakkuk and so many other Old Testament books, the more I adore them.

They are overflowing with precious gems – nuggets of truth beneath the surface, just waiting to be unearthed.

Reading the Old Testament requires much patience, but for the one who perseveres, there is great reward.

Today’s featured post from Journey of the Word explores this topic, and Lydia’s conclusion to this matter of persisting through the hard books is simple but profound:

“I refuse to quit.”

If you agree, I know you’ll be blessed by her post.
