“God is our refuge, God is our strength. A very present help in trouble!”

This praise chorus based on Psalm 46:1 sometimes hovers in my mind when I’m facing times of trouble.

How good our God is to be our refuge and our strength!

How kind He is to be present. God with us, never leaving us nor forsaking us.

And not just in an absentminded, “I’m here in body but I’m really kind of distracted” kind of way.

Oh no, not my God. He’s not just present. He’s very present.

He is our very present Helper.

I don’t know about you, but it comforts my heart to read these words of His and claim the promise they hold for me.

There’s an added measure of amazement for this God of ours when I have a chance to observe the testimony of one who has plunged to unimaginable depths of grief, only to rise again and bear witness of God’s faithfulness through it all.

Lisa, writer at True and Faithful, is one of these dear women bearing a broken heart God is healing, with wounds He has bound as only He can.

You’ll be blessed by her testimony of God’s help, and you’ll be inspired to depend on Him more fully, whether you’re in a season of joy or one of sorrow.
