So this social media thing…

It can be such a blessing, can’t it?

The “Happy Birthday” wishes. The compliments about your profile picture. The retweets and likes. The shares and heart emoticons.

But social media is also a battlefield offering all kinds of temptations.

Comparison. Gossip. Selfishness. Jealousy. Lust. Flattery. Pride.

And guess what?

It’s not going away.

While each of us must follow the Lord’s leading in our use of social media, I’m of the opinion that it bears an overwhelming potential for good.

For spreading light.

For offering hope.

For sharing the gospel.

And so rather than tuck tail and run from social media (like I’m sometimes tempted to do), you and I and all Christ-followers have a tremendous opportunity to seek our Lord’s heart in how we ought to be using it.

Christi, writer at The Cheerio Trail, helps us do just that. In today’s featured post, she digs beneath the surface, going beyond “post this, don’t post that,” and gets to the heart of what our purpose is and what our hearts reveal. She offers a social media strategy for Christ-followers, and she uses a well-known biblical passage to bring it all home.

Yep. If you’re on social media, you can’t afford to miss this post.

Seriously loved that featured post!! Thank you so much for sharing it!! I have a friend whose love language is encouragement/affirmation, and social media is a HUGE part of that. If she doesn’t get comments and likes on her posts she becomes depressed. It’s really important to know how to love others in a way that makes them feel loved.

Thanks for thinking this worthy to share! It’s all still SO new and navigating it takes MUCH intention or we will find ourselves swept up in a current without a paddle. Thankful for you leadership over here pointing to so much TRUTH and perspective that helps inform decisions like these and so many others in our journey.

And looking forward to a Virginia cup of coffee in the future 🙂
