As I write in this space, filling blank white screens with letters and words, and then sentences and paragraphs, I have no greater desire than to point you toward your Savior.
My heart delights in lingering long with Him.
In being still before God, soaking up His presence like it’s the one thing I need more than anything else.
Because it is.
Drawing near to Him in that one-on-one way that feels like the best kind of friendship is possibly the greatest joy known on earth. But at some point we must leave our prayer closets and engage with the people and tasks and opportunities He has given us.
That’s why we’re still here, after all.
And that’s why it’s so important to develop an ongoing awareness of His presence – constantly and consciously.
I’ve found social media to be an excellent aid in developing that awareness. It may seem ironic, because social media can be the conduit of so much negativity, perversion, and…well, junk.
Nevertheless, many of us spend time there multiple times per week. And you can make that time worthwhile.
You can make it worthwhile by contributing grace and truth and love on your personal page and in your interactions with others.
You can make it worthwhile by turning the complaints and the news updates into opportunities for prayer.
And you can make it worthwhile by choosing well what shows up in your feed. A great way to do that is to “like” pages that share God’s truth on a regular basis.
But wait, that’s not enough! Because Facebook won’t include pages in your newsfeed if you don’t “like,” comment, or share the posts you see. The more you interact with the posts from a page, the stronger the likelihood that the page’s posts will appear in your newsfeed.
I’d like to share with you some Facebook pages that encourage me in my faith. But before you look at the list, here’s a shameless plug: if you haven’t yet “liked” A Divine Encounter on Facebook, now’s your chance!
To the best of my knowledge, the pages listed below are in general agreement with what I believe. I have not examined every post on every page – that would be an impossible task! Please let me know if you see something that is not in alignment with what the Bible teaches.
