What is the meaning of life?
What makes it worth living?
Where can we find joy?
“You make known to me the path of life;
in Your presence there is fullness of joy;
at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Psalm 16:11
I ache for the hordes of depressed and despairing people in the world.
Millions of souls seeking fulfillment…peace…joy…some semblance of a life worth living…
and never finding it.
Because they’re looking in all the wrong places.
The answer is so simple:
God’s presence.
Interestingly, these sorrowful seekers aren’t found only among the ranks of unbelievers.
Plenty of people who claim the name of Christ are missing out on their life’s true purpose. They acknowledge the pleasures awaiting Christ-followers in heaven for eternity…
but too many are missing the pleasure and fulfillment and joy that come from experiencing His presence right now.
Relationship with our Creator is what we were made for, and we’ll never find true satisfaction unless we’re living out that purpose.
Yes, enjoyment of God’s presence is a key element of fulfillment in life.
But that’s not all…
Because it’s also a key element of holiness in life.
The more I taste of the pleasures found in His presence, the less alluring worldly pleasures become.
As I grow intimately familiar with the “real deal,” it’s much easier to see the substitutes for what they are: imposters. Flimsy, fleeting fakes that have no hope of offering true fulfillment.
Oh, dear sister in Christ, taste and see that the LORD is good! He has made known to us the path of life: in His presence there is fullness of joy!
