Oh, happy day!
Welcome to Day 1 of our prayer challenge, 21 Days of Prayers For Your Friends!
I’m so glad you want to join me in praying for our friends. Praying the Scriptures is powerful, because it helps to ensure that we’re praying in God’s will. Plus, as a friend of mine recently said, “The Word of God is living, active, and able to battle spiritual wars we know nothing about. It is the Sword that makes the enemy come face to face with truth. It holds the power that can strengthen us, gird us, and move us from the dark place to the light place, the heavy place to the restful place.”
I can’t wait to get started! But first, I have a couple of quick “FYI” tidbits to share with you.
First, in case you’re curious, the Bible version I’m using for the challenge is the English Standard Version (ESV). If you prefer a different version, by all means, use it! Bible versions are generally a matter of personal preference, and they shouldn’t be a source of division in God’s family, so please feel free to choose whatever version you like.
Second, I won’t mention this again after today, but some of my favorite people are procrastinators, and you just might happen to be one of them. 😉 Many of you have already grabbed this deal, but if you meant to claim your printable Praying For My Friends bundle and haven’t done it yet, now is the perfect time! Someone called this bundle “a gigantic help to my prayer life,” and while it regularly sells for $24, you can get it here for the ridiculously low price of just $10 using code 10FRIENDS. Yep, that’s almost 60% off!
The Praying for My Friends journal is part of the bundle, and it was created JUST for the purpose of enhancing this challenge. There’s a specific Scripture highlighted each day, and there are spaces for you to write, ponder, and pray the passage listed. I highly recommend using this printable journal to receive the maximum benefit of the challenge.
So let’s get down to the business of prayer! I can’t think of a better place to start than praying for God’s blessing in the lives of our friends.
So pick a friend or two (or more, as God leads!), and join me in asking the Lord to grant His favor and blessing on them.
Prayers of Blessing for Your Friends
- First, bless God as your Father and Christ’s Father. Ask that He would bless your friend in Jesus Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3).
- Pray that the Lord would bless your friend and keep them, making His face shine upon them and be gracious to them. Entreat the Lord to lift His countenance upon them and give them peace (Numbers 6:24-26).
- Thank God for being the Source of every good gift and every perfect gift, including the gift of friendship. Ask Him to lavish His goodness on your friend, goodness which comes down from the unchanging Father of lights (James 1:17).
- Pray that your friend would fear God and take refuge in Him, then praise Him for the abundant goodness He has stored up for them. Ask that His favor in their life would be a testimony to all who observe it (Psalm 31:19).
- Acknowledge to God the grace He pours out abundantly from His own fullness. Ask Him to grant your friend grace on top of grace, as only He can (John 1:16).
Dear Heavenly Father, how we thank you for the gift of friendship! We ask that You would use us as a source of blessing to our friends, starting with these prayers we’re lifting on their behalf. It’s in the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that I pray. Amen.
I’m already looking forward to tomorrow! Prepare for some powerful prayers for the salvation of unsaved friends, and for the spiritual growth of friends who already know the Lord. See you then, prayer partner!
P.S. If you’d like to claim your Praying for My Friends all-in-one bundle at the super-low price of $10, this is your last reminder to grab it here and use code 10FRIENDS. It’s the last day to purchase it at this price!
