Hello, prayer warrior!
We’re doing battle today, interceding for our friends and wielding the Sword of the Spirit against any enemy that threatens their spiritual victory.
Broken resolutions.
Spiritual strongholds.
Bad habits.
Toxic relationships.
Painful memories.
Crippling fear.
Past sins.
Stifling bitterness.
Is it possible for you to see your friend free of these weights and walking in victory? If your friend is a Christ-follower, based on the authority of God’s Word, the answer is a resounding yes.
Ponder these passages, praying the Scriptures for your friend. Christ died to free us from sin’s penalty in eternity, and from its power right now. Having already given His life for your friend’s freedom, He’ll not deny them the grace they need to be victorious!
Prayer for Your Friend to Walk in Spiritual Victory
- Claim on your friend’s behalf the promise that the Lord God is the One who goes with him or her to fight for them against their enemies, to give them the victory (Deuteronomy 20:4).
- Acknowledge to the Lord that those who remain steadfast under trial are blessed, for when they have stood the test they will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him. Pray that He would give your friend a steadfast spirit that will endure under temptation (James 1:12).
- Pray that your friend wouldn’t rely on their own power, but would be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Ask Him to help your friend put on His whole armor each day, that your friend may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Acknowledge that your friend doesn’t wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:10-12).
- Rejoice in God’s provision which allows your friend to proclaim, “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” Praise Him for the victory over sin and death, made available through our Lord Jesus Christ. Ask for His grace to help your friend be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, and that they would know that in the Lord their labor is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:55-58).
- Ask that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give your friend the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of their heart enlightened, that they may know what is the hope to which He has called us, what are the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us, according to the working of His great might that He worked in Christ when He raised him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:17-20). Marvel at the truth that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is now within your friend. Ask God to show them how to apply that power to secure victory in their life.
- Exult in God’s promise that everyone who has been born of Him overcomes the world. Ponder the truth that your friend’s faith is the victory that has overcome the world (1 John 5:4), and ask the Lord to strengthen their faith.
Dear Heavenly Father, how I thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, which secured victory for me and for my friend and for all of Your children. Thank You for our eternal victory over death, and for our immediate victory over sin. Please grant us a deeper understanding of Your power on our behalf, that we may steward it well, applying it and walking in victory. It’s in the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that I pray. Amen.
On behalf of the friend(s) you’re praying for, can I just say a most genuine, “Thank you”? They are so blessed to have you in their life, whether they realize it or not. Tomorrow we’ll be praying for your ufriend to experience God’s clear direction in their life. Until then!
