Hello, my friend!
There are so many areas in our friends’ lives that require patience.
They need it in their relationships. In their workplaces. In their areas of service.
They need it when they look around the world and see chaos abounding.
They need it when they’re facing life’s trials that threaten to overwhelm them.
They need it when they find themselves in God’s waiting room, and they need it as they waits for their Savior’s return.
Yes, patience serves your friend well in many ways. For this reason, it’s well worth praying for.
Reading these Scriptures has blessed me, and praying them for myself and my friends has multiplied the blessing. I hope they serve the same purpose for you, as you join me in praying the Scriptures that your friend will grow in patience.
Prayers for Your Friend to Have Patience
- Pray that God would help your friend to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which they have been called with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with others in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:1-3). Ask Him to increase their patience with the people in their life.
- Thank God that He is not being negligent to fulfill the promise of His return, but is delaying because of His patience toward people, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Ask Him to give your friend this same patience as they wait for His coming, and to grant them compassion for those who don’t yet know Him as their Savior.
- Ask that the Lord would grant your friend steadfastness and faith during times of persecution and trials, as well as during seasons of waiting and change. Praise Him for this evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that your friend may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which he or she is also suffering (2 Thessalonians 1:4-5).
- Pray that God would help your friend not to grow weary of doing good, but to serve patiently, understanding that in due season they will reap, if they do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
- Praise Christ Jesus for coming into the world to save sinners. Thank Him for the mercy your friend has received, that in your friend’s life Jesus Christ might display His perfect patience as an example to others who will believe in Him for eternal life (I Timothy 1:15-16). Pray that He would help your friend follow His example of patience, especially considering how much patience they have received from Him.
Dear Heavenly Father, how I praise You for being gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love! Too often, we grow impatient when things don’t go according to our plan, or when people don’t behave the way we think they should. I know this controlling tendency is a sinful desire to usurp the authority that only ever belongs to You. Please forgive us, and help us to be patient with others, as You have been patient with us. Please grant my friend Your grace that enables them to wait patiently for Your return, and to labor steadfastly in the meantime. It’s in the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that I pray. Amen.
It’s a true joy to partner together like this in prayer. Tomorrow’s topic is a big one – I hope you’ll meet me back here to pray for your friend’s relationships.
