“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
Philippians 4:8
Lord, thank You for revealing to me that my thoughts matter to You, and that by Your grace, I can choose where my thoughts take me. Help me to think about things that are true, and to resist thinking about what is false. May I think about what is honorable, and refuse to meditate on what brings dishonor. Enable me to think about what is just, and not what is unjust. Help me ponder what is pure, and flee from thoughts of evil. May my thoughts be full of what is lovely, and void of what is ugly. Guide my thoughts toward what is commendable, and far from what is despicable. Help me to consider what is excellent, and to reject thoughts that don’t reflect Your best. Help me train my mind toward what is praise-worthy, and away from what is shameful. Please grant me an alertness to recognize thoughts that fall outside these good boundaries; may my innermost thoughts bring glory to You. In the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
P.S. You’re just past the halfway point. Way to go!
In case you’ve fallen behind a little or you’re struggling to keep up, don’t forget about the personal purity journal I created to accompany this challenge. It’s a great way to slow things a bit and adapt the challenge to your own pace.
It really is the perfect complement to the email challenge, sharing tips for prayer and plenty of room to write each day’s verse, pray over it, and journal about how God is working in your heart.
