Keep your heart with all vigilance,
for from it flow the springs of life.
Put away from you crooked speech,
and put devious talk far from you.
Let your eyes look directly forward,
and your gaze be straight before you.

Oh, Father, thank You for loving me enough to warn me that I must keep my heart with all vigilance, refusing to be casual about what slips inside and rejecting the notion that what my heart absorbs doesn’t really impact my life. I acknowledge, Lord, that from my heart flows the very springs of life, trickling down to influence my thoughts, my words, and my actions. Please help me to put away deceptive words and to keep my eyes fixed straight ahead. Lord, give me discernment as I ponder the path of my feet, that all my ways will be sure. May my feet stay on the narrow path that leads to life, swerving neither to the right or to the left and staying far from evil. In the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
