Do you obey God?
I bet your first instinct is a resounding “yes!”
I think mine would have been, too.
But I’ve been considering this matter of obedience lately, aided by a portion of Scripture in I Samuel. And my conclusion is that I’m not as good at obeying as I thought I was.
I’m happy to be at Satisfaction Through Christ today, sharing more of what God is teaching me about this matter of personal holiness.
Here’s an excerpt:
“To obey is better than sacrifice.”
I Samuel 15:22
This phrase from God’s Word shows us much about His heart and His true desire for His people.
He wants us to obey Him.
We know this. Most of us would readily admit that the One who created us owns us. And when humankind audaciously turned our backs on Him, declaring Him our enemy, He bought us back with the blood of His precious Son. We call Him Master; we call Him Lord. God is in charge and He has a right to call the shots.
But I can’t help but wonder what my actions say…
