Hooray, hooray, it’s time to start our Drawing Close to God in Prayer Challenge!
After today, these emails will be very focused on our prayer topics and Scriptures because I want to refrain from distracting you from the business of prayer. But today I have just ONE quick “FYI” tidbit.
I won’t mention this again after today, but some of my favorite people are procrastinators, and you just might happen to be one of them. 😉 If you meant to claim your Pray Unswayed Strategy Binder and haven’t done it yet, now is the perfect time! This binder has received rave reviews, and while it typically sells for $27, you can get it here for the ridiculously low price of just $5 using code PRAYMORE5.
The Pray Unswayed Strategy Binder is a great complement this challenge, but even better, it will strengthen and equip your prayer life for a long time to come. I highly recommend using the binder to receive the maximum benefit of the challenge.
Now for today’s prayer topic:
Adoration
There’s perhaps no purer prayer than one of adoration, the simple expression of worship for God’s character.
Apart from His gifts, which are bountiful.
Apart from His blessings, which are countless.
Just a plain acknowledgement of who He is, in all His splendor and majesty, all His tenderness and love.
This kind of attention to the nature of God doesn’t come naturally, because we’re far too easily distracted by what our eyes can see and hands can touch.
We’re far too quickly swayed by the urgency of our circumstances so that even when we discipline ourselves to pray, we spend that time asking God for more, when He has already given us everything.
He has given us Himself.
He is the true treasure and the ultimate object of our prayers.
Prayers of Adoration
- Adore God’s attentiveness.

“Like a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.” Psalm 103:13 - Adore God’s faithfulness.
“God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9 - Adore God’s generosity.

“There is no one as holy as the LORD, for there is no one besides You, nor is there any rock like our God.” 1 Samuel 2:2 - Adore God’s justice.
“Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you, for the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for Him.” Isaiah 30:18 - Adore God’s love.
“But God commends His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 - Adore God’s mercy.
“It is of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because His compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 - Adore God’s might.
“Yours, LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is Yours. Yours is the kingdom, LORD, and You are exalted as head above all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11 - Adore God’s sovereignty.
“But our God is in the heavens. He does whatever He pleases.” Psalm 115:3
Dear Heavenly Father, how I adore You! Though I will never fully comprehend the magnificent beauty of Your character or the surpassing worth of who You are, my heart is full of gratitude that You give me glimpses of these things in Your Word and in Your work. And oh, the joy of those glimpses! It sometimes takes my breath away. In the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
I’ll see you tomorrow! And I’m already looking forward to it.
