Here we are on the 27th day of the month once more. Which means I’m remembering the 27 million slaves in the world today. And I’m asking you to remember them, too.
Last month, I talked about praying for these precious people, created by God in His own image. I also offered some suggestions and resources to fuel your prayers. If you haven’t yet done so, will you please take some time today in prayer for them? If you’d like some guidance in your prayers, you can find it here.
Today, I’d like to present another resource for you. Women at Risk, International is an organization devoted to rescuing women and children from slavery, and to assisting women who are at risk for being trafficked. I first learned of the horror of human trafficking at one of their jewelry shows just a few months ago. And this issue hasn’t been far from my mind since.
One way Women at Risk supports women is by hosting the War Chest Boutique. This online store offers stationery, clothing, accessories, and jewelry that are handmade by women in poverty-stricken areas, who are at high risk for being trafficked. The income they earn from their goods enables them to live respectably, which significantly reduces their risk of being lured into slavery under false pretenses.
Today, my challenge for you is to purchase something from the boutique.
Mothers’ Day is right around the corner, and most moms I know would especially cherish a gift purchased with such benefit to a woman in need. Perhaps there’s a special birthday approaching, or maybe you’d even like to get a head start on your Christmas shopping. Be sure to pick up something for yourself, as well — the prices are reasonable, the quality is outstanding, and it may be the most guilt-free purchase you’ll ever make.
Will you consider heading over to the War Chest Boutique? You can do so by clicking here.

uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
