“Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” (Hebrews 11:6)
These words from God Himself should sober us with the understanding that our faith matters to Him.
In fact, I would venture to say that our faith matters perhaps more than anything else, since it is by faith we believe in His existence; it is by faith our relationship with Him is restored; and it is by faith that we live in righteousness and fruitfulness.
Saving faith that results in a relationship with God through Christ isn’t the end of our faith. Oh, no – it’s just the beginning of a lifetime of walking by faith, and not by sight.
Will you spend some time with me now, praying the Scriptures for your friend’s faith to grow strong?
Prayers For Your Friend to Grow Strong in Her Faith
Acknowledge to the Lord that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) Pray that your friend would have full confidence in the unseen things God has promised because He is faithful.
Ask God to help your friend trust in Him with all her heart, not leaning on her own understanding. Pray that she would acknowledge Him in all her ways, and claim His promise to make her paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Beg the Lord to make this your friend’s testimony: “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4)
Pray that your friend would follow Abraham’s example, not weakening in faith when she sees obstacles to His promise. Ask that no unbelief would make her waver concerning the promise of God, but that she would grow strong in her faith as she gives glory to God, fully convinced that He is able to do what He has promised. (Romans 4:19-21)
Implore God to grant your friend the grace to commit her way to Him, trusting in Him. Remind Him of His promise to act on her behalf when she does this. (Psalm 37:5)
Ask the Lord to help your friend have the mindset of being crucified with Christ, and that it is no longer she who lives, but Christ who lives in her. Pray that the life she now lives in the flesh she would live by faith in the Son of God, who loved her and gave Himself for her. (Galatians 2:20)
Thank God for His promise to keep her in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on God, because she trusts in Him. Praise Him for being worthy of our trust forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. (Isaiah 26:3-4) Ask that your friend would rest in these promises.
Pray that your friend would not be anxious about anything, but that in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving she would let her requests be made known to God. Thank God for His promised peace, which surpasses all understanding, that will guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Praise God for the assurance that His divine power has granted to your friend all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence, by which He has granted to her His precious and very great promises, so that through them she may become a partaker of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. Pray that His grace would enable her to make every effort to supplement her faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are hers and are increasing, they keep her from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:3-8)
Confess the truth that faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17) Pray that your friend would be rooted and grounded in the Word, prompting her faith to thrive.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your faithfulness, which inspires our full confidence in You. I pray that my friend would spend time in Your Word, getting to know You more and finding You trustworthy in all things. I ask that the pattern of her life would be one of salvation by faith, walking by faith, and living by faith. It’s in the Name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that I pray. Amen.
If you haven’t already done so, don’t forget to sign up for the rest of the prayer challenge! It will be a source of blessing in your life (and your friend’s life) as you continue to pray the Scriptures over her.
