Author provides inspiration and encouragement about diligent service to God, offering 15 Bible verses about taking action. https://adivineencounter.com/15-for-15

I didn’t make a long list of resolutions for 2015. Instead, I chose a single word to reflect some changes I’ve sensed God leading me to make.

That word is ACT.

Because far too often, I’ve allowed good thoughts and good words and good intentions to stop short of good actions.

I’ve let fear and laziness and discouragement paralyze me, rendering me inactive.

But no more.

You see, God has been bringing to my attention just how much He cares about what I do.

And how I do it.

In my last post, I recommended that you search the Scriptures for what God has to say about the heart issues behind your resolutions.

Heeding this advice myself, I’ve found that God’s Word has so much to say about taking action. I’ve been inspired and ignited as I’ve pondered God’s truth; and hopefully not in a here-today-and-gone-tomorrow kind of way. I pray it’s more like a slow-burn-that-takes-over-everything-from-now-on kind of way.

Whether you have a list of resolutions you’re acting on, or just need a jumpstart in your service for your Master, I think these 15 Scriptures I’m claiming in ’15 will encourage you, too.

Let’s claim them in prayer and hide them in our hearts. May they bear much fruit in our lives as we get busy about the work of Christ’s Kingdom!

Bible Verses About Taking Action

“Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” John 13:17

“But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” James 1:23-25

“But someone will say, ‘You have faith and I have works.’ Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” James 2:18

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

“And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.” 2 Chronicles 31:21

“I hasten and do not delay keeping your commandments.” Psalm 119:60

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24

“But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

“The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Turn and take your journey, and go to the hill country of the Amorites…See, I have set the land before you. Go in and take possession…” Deteronomy 1:6-8

“Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.” Ezra 10:4

“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” I Peter 1:13

“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” James 4:17

I am all about this post! It is so practical for the Christ follower. All of my Monday posts at my blog last year were part of a series I called “Heart Notes”. Each Monday I offered a new Scripture and a bit of commentary on it. I also offered monthly printables to go along with that month’s verses. Scripture is truly pertinent and applicable to every part of our lives. Great post!

Thanks for your encouragement, Leah! I love your idea of highlighting Scripture on a regular basis, as I, too, believe strongly in the importance of the Bible in the life of believers. What a high calling we have, to point others to God’s Word with our writing! It’s a true privilege to labor alongside you toward that end.

Hi, Tami, and welcome! I’m so glad this post encouraged you. God continues to propel me toward ACTION, in spite of my preference to remain stationary and comfortable. I pray that He does wonderful things in your life in the upcoming year!
