I recently wrote a post about helping our kids to be pure in the midst of a very impure world.
One of the points I made in that post is the importance of praying for our kids’ purity.
After all, prayer is always the best thing we can do for those we care about.
With that in mind, I decided to see what God’s Word has to say about purity, and to formulate some prayers based on the Scriptures. I recently compiled some of those prayers in an article at Intoxicated on Life.
Here’s an excerpt:
Thank God for His promise that there is no such thing as a unique or unheard-of temptation, but only those that are common to mankind. Praise Him for His faithfulness in not letting your child be tempted beyond his ability. Ask Him to help your child find the way of escape when he’s tempted (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Pray that your child would consider herself dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus, not letting sin control her body but instead presenting herself and her body to God as instruments for righteousness (Romans 6:11-14).

I think the MOST poignant point is that the child not be tempted beyond the child’s ability to resist temptation.
Thank you for the post.

That’s an excellent point, and a biblical one. Thank you for chiming in!
