Sometimes I need a hefty dose of hope.
When I’m having a rough day.
When I’m losing sight of what’s really important and…
when I forget why.
When I look around the world and see sin running rampant, evil having a heyday, injustice abounding, and persecution rising.
And guess what?
God knew I would have days like this.
There’s something special about that. Comforting.
My need for hope doesn’t take Him by surprise.
He knew I would need it, and He is so good to offer it to me.
If you’re feeling hopeless, these prayers are a great way to seek hope afresh.
Not because you found them at A Divine Encounter.
But because they come from the pages of God’s Word, and praying the Scriptures is a powerful thing.
Perhaps you’re not feeling hopeless right now. If that’s the case, will you take time to pray for someone who’s in the midst of this season? Perhaps a family member or friend. Perhaps another reader you don’t even know.
You may never discover on this side of heaven the effect your prayers have had in the lives of others.
Prayers for the Hopeless Heart
1.)Thank God that you have access to the complete Word of God, through which the mystery that was kept hidden for ages and generations is disclosed to the Lord’s people. Praise Him for making known to you the glorious riches of this mystery: Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:25-27) Ask Him to deepen your understanding of this mystery, and of its impact on your life.
2.)Ask that the God of hope would fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13)
3.)Praise God that you were justified by faith, and have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Claim the promise that through Jesus you have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which you stand, and you can rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:1-2)
4.)Offer God your worship, believing His Word which fosters hope in God’s resurrection power that defeats death. (Acts 24:14-15)
5.)Pray that God would firmly establish your hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. (I Timothy 4:10)
6.)Thank God for His Word, which was written for your instruction. Ask God that it would fulfill its purpose in your life, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures you might have hope. (Romans 15:4)
7.)Determine with the Lord that you will choose to hope continually and will praise Him yet more and more. (Psalm 71:14)
8.)Pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. (Ephesians 1:18-19)
9.)Thank God for His great mercy, through which He has given you new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. Remind Him that He is keeping this inheritance in heaven for you, and that through faith you are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. Share with God that in this hope you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. Pray that these trials would prove the proven genuineness of your faith, resulting in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. (I Peter 1:3-8)
Heavenly Father, You have given me every reason to have hope. Even when my circumstances seem hopeless. Even when my feelings don’t fall in line. Please grant me a deeper understanding of the eternal hope I have through Jesus Christ, and of the hope of Your calling here on earth. It’s in my Savior’s name that I pray. Amen.
So encouraging to read this. 🙂
